How to Download
Once payment has been finalized you will receive a Purchase Order email for the Rachel Aldous Online Store.  In an effort to reduce piracy, our links have a limited number of download attempts.  There have been case of download links being placed on blogs for example where anyone is free to steal the files, and as much as we would love to share our music to the world for free, we would not be able to continue with this ministry.  PLEASE don't fileshare outside of your immediate family.  Not only is it illegal piracy, but how can we worship God with a stolen song?  With that said,
right click or press control & click (same result) on the blue "download" link in the item description box.  From the pop up menu, choose "download linked file" or similar command (depending on your computer system you are using).  If for some reason you are not given that option, click or double click on the link. There are so many types of computers and different settings that it is hard give a basic "How To" that will cover everyone's computer on their end but here are some tips if you are having issues downloading or can not find the download once it has been downloaded.  If your computer opens the mp3 with it's "default" application, maybe something like iTunes or Quicktime Player for instance, let it open the file and complete the downloading process.  Once complete, choose "File" from the upper left hand corner of your screen, choose "save as" and rename the file the title of the song, pick mp3 for the type of format that you would like.  In iTunes, choose "File" from the upper left hand corner of your screen, choose add to library, and the select "applications" as your next option, finally choose iTunes as the select application.  It will be listed as the title of the song with artist as Rachel Aldous in your library.

Where did my purchase download to?
The download destination is determined by the current browser that you are using, ie: Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome.  Most likely your browser will send your file to the "downloads" folder/directory.  You can access this directory either by using your local search engine to search "downloads" or you can open up a new Finder window by clicking anywhere on your open desktop window (not on a file) and clicking File in the upper right hand corner, choose "New Finder Window".  The left hand column gives the the opportunity to choose directory types.  Choose the "downloads" directory.  Most, but not all of your viewing options (choose between them by clicking the view icons in the header of the menu) will have the latest download listed first.  Toggle between view choices and your purchase will be at the top of the list if you just downloaded it.  If it is not in your downloads, check the browser preferences of the browser you used to download, ie:

Why does my song open up with Quicktime Player? (or something similar)
The Rachel Aldous Online Store has no control of the settings of your computer. (Be grateful because we can barely operate ours!)  Your computer, or possibly FireFox, is set to open up files with the extension ".mp3" with that application.  To change that application:

Windows XP
To change which program starts when you double-click a file
Notes
•You cannot use this method for a file that does not have a file name extension, or for a file that has an .exe, .com, or .bat extension.
•If you change the program that Windows uses to open a certain kind of file, and that program was not designed for the type of data in that file, the files may not appear correctly in the program.       to be safe, note the name of the program that Windows previously used to open the file type so that you can reverse your settings if it is necessary.

To change which program starts when you double-click a file, follow these steps:
1. Open Windows Explorer by right-clicking the Start button, and then click Explore.
2. Click a folder that contains a file of the type that you want Windows to open in a program that you select.
3. Right-click the file and, depending on the programs installed on your computer, complete one of the following steps:
•Click Open With to choose the program that you want.
•Point to Open With, and then click Choose Program to choose the program that you want.
4. The Open With dialog box is displayed. Use one of the following methods to select the program that you want to use for this file type:
•In the Programs list, click the program that you want to use.
•Click Browse, locate and then click the program that you want to use, and then click Open.
•Click Look for the appropriate program on the Web to browse the Internet for the program that you want to use.
5. Click to select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box if it is not selected.
6. Click OK.

Note From now on, Windows XP will open all files that have this file name extension in the program that you selected. To change this, you must follow these steps again and associate a different program with this file name extension.

MAC OS X LEOPARD

In an open Finder window, select the file which has the default program association you wish to change. After you select the file, go to "File" and "Get Info" in the Mac OS X menu bar.
Once you have opened the "Get Info" window, you will be given a number of choices in arrowed/tabbed drop-down windows. The fifth option is "Open With." Click on the arrow to expand the window, and you will see a multiple-selection clickable dialog box that shows the current application selected for the file association.

What is a zip file and how can I open it?

Zip files are compressed archives. The term "Archive" in this context means that the file may contain one or more files, or even folders, much like folders on your hard disk. "Compressed" means that mathematical techniques have been used to reduce the space needed to store the files, so that the size of the archive may be much smaller than the size of the files it contains. There are many different compression techniques in use today.  In short, Zip files are a space-saving way of storing single files or groups of related files and decrease download times.

If you're using Windows XP, then your operating system has built-in support for Zip files. They are described as "Compressed (zipped) folders." Just double-click on a Zip file and it will open in Explorer, just like a folder. Double-click on a file inside the compressed folder and you may be able to open that too (but really, Windows has extracted a copy of the file to another location and is opening that,) But if you right-click on items in a compressed (zipped) folder, you'll notice that the same options don't appear on the pop-up menu. This shows that it is not a real folder.

If you're using Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT or Windows 2000 then you'll need to install a special application to open Zip files. The application that is usually recommended to use is WinZip. WinZip became popular because it was the first ever Zip / Unzip utility for Windows.

PayPal can not process or has declined my credit card but my download links were sent to me.

Occasionally PayPal will send out this notification but still processes the payment and notifies our store to automatically send your downloads to you.  Because of the gllitch though,  zip files links may redirect you to our store and you will receive an error notice.  If the individual links are available there is no need to download the zip file.  Everything contained in the zip file is listed as an individual link also.  We apologize for the inconvenience, this is PayPal's issue and is out of our control.  We have only noticed it when a customer pays with a credit card and they do not have a PayPal account.  PayPal assures us they are taking care of it.
